Almost 5 weeks into the Military Life

Just over five weeks ago, we started packing my Husbands suitcase. It was like a last minute effort, as the day came faster than we wanted to, and we really didn't want to separate because, well we knew the timeline we'd be looking at.

It was about five weeks ago, that he hugged and kissed our girls goodbye and that he was heading to work, it was about five weeks ago that he hugged me and kissed me goodbye... and today.. writing this, I still get teary eyed.

I never figured myself as an emotional one, nor has anyone ever seen me that way. But looking to our future time apart I couldn't have imagined my day-to-day tasks without him.

But here we are. Five weeks in, and next weekend (hopefully) he will be allowed off base for a visit. I haven't told the kids, because I'm afraid of disappointing them, should he not get the time away. Remarkably and partially to my surprise, me and the kids have been doing well, we get on with our day each day, the kids don't seem distraught or upset on a daily basis (only when they are in trouble haha!)

And to think, with every step we make here we are building towards a better life.

OK now back to the real life stuff!!

Groceries I find are harder, we used to do it all together, and I would go in with girls and put groceries away as he brought them in from our vehicle (which you can't see from the house), so now we have to take groceries in, lock door, head to van, grab more groceries to take in, and repeat until all groceries are done.

If anything my little muscles are getting bigger ;)

I've implemented some good behaviour tactics for our littlest one, who likes to empty drawers/make rooms look like hurricanes were nearby. Still working on tactics for unwanted visitors - for some reason they seem to come more often, perhaps they think I'm lonely.

In all honesty though, I talk to my hubby twice daily (most days), and I'm not all that lonely, I've been working on cleaning/organizing/purging in the evenings after kiddos go to bed, and then I watch my shows and head to bed myself. And I've also signed myself up for a few projects.

First project was a gift that was purchased to match style of existing home, but it needed stained, so I've stained it now and it's sitting in my storage room. Unfortunately that's a CHRISTMAS gift.. so you won't see it till then!

My second project is for me and my Husband. Seeing as we won't have a real celebratory evening for our first wedded anniversary (as he will be away at training) I plan to repaint all our bedroom furniture, to make it appear like its a set (as it all came from different directions). Once our room is done, I will post a picture of that (should be a month or two at the rate I move).

Not much else is new. More visitors this weekend, same as last weekend. My biggest issue with all these visitors is I can't accomplish anything when I have people in my home :(
