Our family of 4 lives in a cozy 1015 sq. foot row-house/townhouse that we currently rent. Despite some of the conditions on renting we try to make the place our own.
We have lived in our 3 bedroom, 1 bathroom home for just over 3 years now and it's the home our youngest was born into - Not in the literal sense, she was of course born in the hospital in our town - but this is her first house of residence.
Note these before pictures may or may not be from our actual unit, these are the photos taken from our rental company's website.

The Kitchen image above, is actually a backwards floor plan to our unit, but it's funny to see these pictures now and see the stark, sterile rooms by themselves, they look so lonely and deprived. Also on the first image you can see the exterior of the homes, and you see those sweet orange flowers, I have NO IDEA what they are called, but I just simply love them. We actually have (thanks to previous owners) two "sets" of these on either side of our walk up, they close at night and open during the day. The first year we were here it just looked like this wild unmanageable bush was growing and I was so ready to cut them down, thank god I didn't because it's one stroke of beauty in our yard that reappears every year.
IN PROGRESS:
Below you will see what we've done with those "same" spaces, as well as our daughter's room, and our playroom - Yes in 1015 sq. foot it IS possible to still have a playroom.
